If you don't know it, the Minnesota Vikings are my favorite football team. In fact, the youth leaders on our staff bought me a Minnesota Viking football helmet for Christmas. It's sitting in my office and it's awesome!!
I heard the other day that more and more football players in the National Football League (NFL) are coming away with concussions. What's weird is that they are making the helmets safer and sturdier.
So what does that mean? They have safer contact resistant helmets, but more and more players are getting concussions?!?!
These monsters of the gridiron somehow believe that they are invincible. That they cannot get hurt by collision after collision. And what they are finding out is that they are getting hurt...and badly. Some are facing career-ending concussions head-on (no pun intended) that are very serious!
It's the same with us (only without the helmet). We somehow believe that we can collide and collide with life and come up unhurt. We believe we are going to live forever! That we are invincible!
But the reality is - no one is guaranteed tomorrow. I don't know who said it but it's true: Life is hard, but God is good! Live for GOD today and thank HIM for everything in your life...and avoid football fields when wearing a helmet. Go purple! |
